Dharamsala, Feb. 5 – The 19th annual Tibet House benefit concert in was held at the Carnegie hall in New York city where an eclectic group of artists performed to salute Tibetan culture on Tuesday.
Among the performers this year was Tashi Dhondup, better known as Techung, a Tibetan singer and musician known for his albums of traditional Tibetan music. The Tibetan musician performed with his band ‘Lhasa spirits’.
Techung was born and brought up in the exile Tibetan community of Dharamsala, India. He studied Tibetan performing art at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA).
Philip Glass, composer of score for Kundun, the film on Dalai Lama by Oscar winning director Martin Scorsese, was also among the artists who entertained the audience.
