New Delhi – Coinciding with Tenshug (Long life prayer)offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Global Tibetan Professionals Network yesterday celebrated the first International GTPN Day. The day was celebrated simultaneously with various programs in New Delhi, Bangalore, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Denver, and Minneapolis and Toronto.

The day is marked to promote the idea and awareness about the network, say Lhakpa Tsering, the GTPN Coordinator. These events will feature Tibetan cultural performances, fashion shows, painting exhibitions, nail art exhibitions, video screenings, photo exhibitions and lectures.

GTPN is a platform where Tibetan professionals from diverse backgrounds are connected into a network to find creative ways of contributing to the community. Through this network, Tibetan professionals around the world share ideas, information and resources among themselves and with those aspiring to be professionals through mentorship.

GTPN was first launched in India on Nov 1, 2008 at New Delhi by Empowering the Vision Project in close cooperation with the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi. GTPN in North America was created in Jan 2009.
