ENVISION Organizes conference for Young Tibetans

Dharamsala, Feb. 10, 2009 – Over 100 participants have gathered at the Asia Plateau for the 2nd Global Vision for Young Tibetans Conference organized by Empowering the Vision Project. The five day conference began yesterday in Panchgani near Pune. Among the 94 participants are Tibetan monks, school children and college students. In addition to the Tibetan students, there are also 9 interns from the Asia Plateau community.

Honorable Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche was the Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony held yesterday. Among the other speakers at the ceremony were Mr. RD Mathur, founding Trustee of MRA/IOC, Asia Plateau, Mr. Alan Clements, Trustee, Tibet Relief Fund and Mrs. Youdon Aukatsang, Director, Empowering the Vision Project.

In a message sent to the Conference, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said, “I offer my greetings to everyone attending this Global Vision for Young Tibetans Conference with my prayer that the experience will sow seeds in your minds for constructive courses of action you may take in groups or as individuals and empower you with skills and understanding to bring them to fruit.”

Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche stressed on the importance of personality development in the Tibetan struggle saying that “in order to become ambassador of Tibet, first and foremost it is important to focus on your personality growth and qualify yourself as a Tibetan”.

Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, who is also one of the resource persons for this conference, will talk on ‘Youth as Ambassadors and Nation Builders’; Geshe Lhakdor will talk on ‘Ethics in Leadership and Personality Development’; Mr. Arun Kapur on Leading out: The True Purpose of Education’ and Mr. Samphe Lhalungpa on ‘Life Choices in Uncertain Environment’.

The Conference aims to inspire and motivate young Tibetans to become more confident, self-reliant and dynamic, says Youdon Aukatsang, who is also a member of the Tibetan parliament. “Participants will be given numerous opportunities to introspect, interact and learn during the entire time of the conference.”

Empowering the Vision Project is a non-government and not for profit organization based in New Delhi, India with the vision to build successful young Tibetans. ENVISION aims to provide exposure, build confidence, inspire, motivate and empower young Tibetans to take their place in the community with dynamism and vision.
