DHARAMSHALA, Jan. 17: Days after Taiwan elected a pro-sovereign President who vowed to defend it against foreign influences, China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, issued a stern warning during a press meeting in Cairo, Egypt. He warned that any attempts by Taiwan to pursue independence would be met with severe consequences, stating that such moves would be “harshly punished.”
Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks to questions about China’s views on cross-Straits relations and the situation in Taiwan following the leadership election.
“Taiwan’s election is a regional affair within China. No matter what the results of the election are, they cannot change the basic fact that there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of it. Taiwan has never been a country. It wasn’t in the past, and it certainly won’t be in the future. If anyone on the island of Taiwan thinks of going for independence, they will be trying to split Chinese territory, and will certainly be harshly punished by both history and the law,” he remarked.
Following the presidential election, Beijing strongly criticised and accused countries including the US, UK and others of “interfering in China’s internal affairs” after they extended congratulations to President-elect Lai Ching-te. The Democratic Progressive Party’s win in Taiwan’s presidential election has been perceived as a setback for Beijing, as the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is known for its pro-sovereignty stance.
On Sunday, Beijing accused U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken of “sending a gravely wrong signal” after he extended his best wishes to president-elect Lai Ching-te. He commented on the democratic process, stating, ”We congratulate Dr Lai Ching-te on his victory in Taiwan’s presidential election. We also congratulate the Taiwan people for participating in free and fair elections and demonstrating the strength of their democratic system.”
In response to the congratulatory message from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Taiwan’s President-elect Lai Ching-te, China has issued a strong statement, urging the US to cease official interactions with Taiwan and refrain from sending what it perceives as a “wrong signal” to separatist forces advocating for ‘Taiwan independence.’
Among many international leaders congratulating President-elect te was the exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama who expressed his admiration for the Taiwanese people’s determination to uphold democratic values. He wrote, “Indeed, observing the exercise of democracy, as has just taken place in Taiwan, is a source of encouragement for all of us who aspire to live in freedom and dignity.”
The President-elect Lai Ching-te, known for his pro-sovereignty views, has vowed to defend Taiwan against what he perceived as Chinese “intimidation.” In addition, Lai emphasised the island’s autonomy, aligning with the party’s commitment to preserving Taiwan as a distinct entity from mainland China.

The victory of Vice President Lai in the recent elections in Taiwan is a slap on the face of the communist regime and a personal blow to dictator Xi. The CCP tried all it’s tricks in the book! A million Taiwanese living in China were told to vote for the KMT. It also conducted clandestine tours to China from Taiwan on cheap vocational trips and told those who were involved to vote for its preferred party the Kumintang. It also asked Taiwanese living abroad to come home to boost the KMT candidate’s chance of winning the elections! It flew massive number of war planes to threaten Taiwanese of dire consequences if they voted for the independence leaning party DPP but to no avail. Why is the CCP’s tactics are not working? It even prompted up a China sponsored “independent candidate” by bank rolling her campaign expenses! However, she was caught red handed and disqualified! You have to wonder why the CCP with its slush funds, disinformation, threat, financial bribery and clandestine inducements all failed! Human beings are not robots! Every human being has the capacity to discern right from wrong. As it were, the people of Taiwan know that the CCP is evil! They have seen the terrible massacres they have carried out during their reign of terror for the last seven decades. No invader of China could rival the monstrosity of the CCP! It is estimated that it killed 80 million Chinese and other people in its occupied territories like Tibet, East Turkistan, Southern Mongolia and Manchuria! Recent mass murders are fresh in many people’s minds such as the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacres when PLA tanks rolled over young Chinese students and chewed their bodies to pulp and wailing women and girls were bayoneted by PLA on the night of June 4 1989! NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE UNDER TYRANNY LEAST OF ALL CHINESE COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP!
People also witnessed the violent clamp down on the young Hong Kong democracy protestors in 2020-2021 and how the CCP used local Triad criminal gangs in white shirts to beat up young people including minors! The CCP’s thirst for blood is insatiable! That is why, people fear them but don’t love them! There is no chance the people of Taiwan will ever agree to join CCP ruled communist China. Even the Kuomintang candidate has no love lost for the CCP. Ma Ying-Jeau, the former President of Taiwan was not invited for the Kuomintang rally before the election because Ma in an interview to German TV Deutsche Weili said, “he was in favour of unification”. When asked if he trusted Xi, he answered, “we must trust Xi”. This was like a red rag in-front of the bull to most Taiwanese who are well aware of the mendacity of the CCP!
The other option is to introduce democracy in China in order to cox Taiwan to join communist China but there is little chance of that from the CCP.
Therefore, the only option is war! Taiwan is ranked 24th among 145 countries considered for the annual Global fire power. Economically it ranks as 10th financial power according to its global standing. So, it’s no push over. Besides, the US is bound to intervene along with its allies and that is a formidable challenge for communist China whose economic is sluggish at best and its population is fast dwindling. Therefore, it’s a Herculean challenge for dictator Xi and his own time on this earth is fast approaching to near end. However, don’t let your guards down. The CCP is a beast which is reckless and human suffering and death never deters it from pursuing its maniacal endeavours. The world should stand together to protect Taiwan’s vibrant democracy that is going to be a catalyst for communist China to one day discard its antiquated and discredited totalitarian system and embrace democracy, human rights and rule of law. Meanwhile, all democracies of world must stand together in military alliance to prevent communist China’s militaristic adventure to occupy other people’s countries, land, air space and seas with impunity! Communist China’s imperialist expansionism must be stopped!
