Ontario RTWA president honored with award

Dharamsala, March 26 – The president of the Tibetan women association of Ontario, Canada, was awarded the Volunteer Achievement Award, the Tibetan Women’s Association announced here.

Kalsang Tsomo, the President of Tibetan Women’s Association of Ontario, received the award from MPP Cheri DiNovo of Ontario of Parkdale High Park, Constituency which is a home to majority of the Tibetan immigrants in Toronto.

The Centrex office of the Tibetan Women’s Association expressed joy and pride in Kalsang’s achievement.

The award was presented to her on March making her the first Tibetan ever to be recognized for social and political services within the Tibetan Community in Toronto.

Kalsang took over as the president of the Tibetan women’s association on Feb 19 2008. The TWA centrex said the she is a real inspiration for younger Tibetans and a role model for generations to come.
