Growing up, documentary filmmaker Tom Peosay loved listening to his globetrotting father spin yarns about traveling to exotic locations. Since then, the 43-year-old Los Altos native has turned that fascination into a career of shedding light on faraway lands.

The Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, who is visiting Japan at the invitation of a group of Japanese lawmakers, on Wednesday asked people to nurture compassion for realizing world peace.

Bay Area Friends of Tibet is hosting its 18th annual Tibet Day cultural fair at Fort Mason in San Francisco on November 15. Tibet Day promises to be the Bay Area’s premiere celebration of Tibetan art, politics, culture and music.

One of the most revered Buddhist figures of Ladakh, Kyabje Bakula Rinpoche, breathed his last on the morning of 4 November. The Central Tibetan Administration held a mourning session at the Kashag hall which was attended by the Kalon Tripa and his colleagues in the Kashag and issued a statement of condolence.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama yesterday participated in a Forum entitled "Wisdom & Practice". The Forum was attended by twelve Professors, Assistant Professors of various Universities of the region and Prominent Buddhist Monks.

For Canadian photographer Brian Harris, it's all about sight. Harris' multimedia show "Himalayan Visions & Tibetan Voices" opens on Thursday at the McDonald Theatre. He brings images of a foreign land to his audiences and in turn brings sight to those in need.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama yesterday morning left Tokyo for Ise by train. At Ise, the Representatives of the Welcome Committee and the Representatives of the High Priest of Ise Shrine recieved His Holiness at Uji Yamada Station where His Holiness arrived at noon.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama yesterday had a very busy schedule with several audiences including Internationally renowned Scientist – Dr James Lovelock and an interview by Yomiuri Newspaper (the largest daily in Japan).
