Countries shouldn't confront China directly on the delicate Tibet issue but rather befriend it and then work to promote human rights and religious freedom through a trusting relationship with Beijing, the Dalai Lama said Wednesday.

Nepal and the People's Republic of China (PRC) define their relationship as 'warm' and based on cooperation and mutual respect, but practices along the Tibet-Nepal border reveal an unequal partnership, skewed to the disadvantage of the Nepalese.
