Dalai Lama teachings for Tibetan youths

His Holiness the Dalai Lama responds to an open-question from a Tibetan student during an introductory Buddhist teaching for Tibetan youths in the main auditorium of Upper Tibetan Children’s Village (UTCV) School, Dharamsala, India, Thursday, June 5, 2008. The teachings concluded Friday morning. Some 3000 Tibetan school and college students, including teaching staff, from all over India and elsewhere packed to the auditorium’s seating capacity to hear basic Buddhist lessons from their most revered spiritual leader. The two-day teaching for Tibetan youths, organized by the Buddhism Introductory Committee of Dharamsala, is second in a series initiated since last year. The committee head Mr Dawa Tsering, also a member of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, describes his effort as a way to keep young Tibetans intact with Tibetan spiritual and cultural values. He now hopes to organize more such teachings in other places outside Dharamsala by also inviting other prominent Buddhist heads and scholars in near future.
