An associate superintendent of the Vancouver board of education is quitting her job next month to become president and chief executive officer of the Dalai Lama Centre for Peace and Education in Vancouver.

Lynn Green conf irmed Tuesday that she has accepted the appointment and is ending her 32-year career with the Vancouver school district. Two other associate superintendents — Gary Little and Sonia Hutson — will be retiring at the same time, leaving three senior-management vacancies.

The Dalai Lama Centre was founded in 2005 by the Dalai Lama and longtime associate Victor Chan, who organized visits by the exiled Tibetan leader to Vancouver in 2004, 2006 and 2009. The centre, a charitable organization that promotes “education of the heart” through creative learning, hopes to have a physical presence in downtown Vancouver one day.
