DHARAMSHALA, March 5: Palden Yeshi, a Tibetan monk and teacher from eastern Tibet, has reportedly been sentenced to six years in prison by Chinese authorities for teaching the Tibetan language to local children during school holidays, according to a report by the Dharamshala-based independent radio station Voice of Tibet (VoT).
He was a teacher at Karze Monastery in Tehor, Karze County, and was arrested on May 17, 2021, while serving at the monastery. According to sources cited by VoT, Chinese police suddenly arrived at the monastery and detained him without prior notice, forcibly taking him away.
Following his detention, authorities did not provide his family with clear information regarding the reasons for his arrest or the legal basis for the charges against him.
Sources indicate that the primary reason for his detention was his efforts to teach the Tibetan language to more than 300 local children during school holidays. The classes were reportedly organized for young students from nearby communities who wished to learn Tibetan reading and writing. Chinese authorities are believed to have deemed these voluntary language lessons illegal.
Despite his arrest and subsequent imprisonment, officials have not publicly disclosed the specific charges filed against him. His family members have also reportedly not been informed about the legal grounds for his detention.
However, according to information that emerged on January 8, it has now been confirmed that Palden is currently being held at Chushul Prison in the Tibet Autonomous Region and has been sentenced to a total of six years in prison.
His arrest and imprisonment have reportedly taken a heavy toll on his family. Sources say his elderly father suffered immense emotional distress following his son’s detention. The situation was further aggravated by repeated harassment and pressure from Chinese police directed at the family and their relatives. Under the strain of these circumstances, Palden’s father passed away on September 29, 2022.
Authorities have yet to disclose the exact charges related to the monk’s imprisonment, leaving his family in continued uncertainty regarding the legal basis for his conviction. The case has once again drawn attention to the tightening restrictions on Tibetan language education and the risks faced by individuals engaged in preserving Tibetan culture and linguistic heritage in Tibet.
Taktser Rinpoche, the senior brother of the Dalai Lama warned that TIBET WILL NOT SURVIVE UNDER CHINESE OCCUPATION! He was the abbot of Kubum monastery in Amdo when he was sent to Lhasa by the communists to assassinate the Dalai Lama! The CCP told him to urge the Dalai Lama to accept Tibet as “part of China” and if he doesn’t accept, “kill him”, so he was told! If he does this favour to the Chinese, they would elevate him to a very high post, they promised. When the Supreme Leader of Iran was assassinated US and Israel, the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi proclaimed, “it was unacceptable” even though they did the same to decapitate the Tibetan leadership when communist china committed aggression on Tibet!!! The hypocrisy is breathtaking! Taktser Rinpoche left Amdo and came to Lhasa. He told his brother, the Dalai Lama, that the Chinese sent me purposely to kill him and therefore his life was in danger! The Dalai Lama was incredulous! He said, “did they believe, you would kill me?”
Soon after, Yabshi Amala, Taktser Rinpoche along with Ngari Rinpoche left Tibet through Dromo on the ancient caravan route to Kalimpong. While the family settled in Kalimpong, Taktser Rinpoche went to Calcutta where he heard THE AMERICAN COMMITTEE FOR FREE ASIA, a CIA umbrella organisation invited him to America for a year as their guest! The Americans were trying to wrest the senior brother of the Dalai Lama on their side for geopolitical reasons while Gyalo Thondup went to study in Nanjing! By this time he had thrown his robes and became THUBTEN JIGME NORBU! He went to America and later became a professor at the Indiana University. Thubten Jigme Norbu said, “THERE IS NO CHANCE OF TIBET SURVIVING UNDER CHINESE OCCUPATION!” In other words, Tibetans will NOT BE ALLOWED TO KEEP THEIR CULTURE, RELIGION, LANGUAGE AND IDENTITY UNDER CHINESE YOKE! He found the TIBETAN INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENT (TIM) Organisation and worked for an independent Tibet by multiple Peace Marches until he passed away. His sons continued his legacy until one of them was “klled” during a Peace March. Today, Thubten Jigme Norbu’s words are prophetic! All the efforts of the Dalai Lama to appease the Chinese terrorist regime has brought no positive result whatsoever and has only hardened its repression, cultural assimilation and obliteration of Tibet’s unique cultural inheritance has only intensified! To criminalise the teaching of any specific nationality or group is UNHEARD OF IN ANY OTHER COUNTRY EXCEPT CRIMINAL, ORGAN HARVESTING COMMUNIST CHINA! Every nationality or group in any country is ENTITLED TO USE THEIR MOTHER TONGUE WHICH IS A UNIVERSAL HUMAN RIGHT ENSHRINED IN THE UN CHARTER! The rogue communist regime is the only entity that suppresses the mother tongue of ethnic nationalities in its Nazi like superiority complex of the Chinese! This is CHINESE COMMUNIST NAZI FACISM DRESSED IN THE DIRTY GARB OF “ethnic unity”! Ethnic unity is not achieved through forced absorption of the unique features of the ethnicity but through understanding the sensitivities of their ethnic features and respecting them! Switzerland is a united country yet it has four official languages! It has German speaking Swiss in the Zurich region while Lugano region speaks Italian and Geneva region speaks French and the original people the Romas in Eastern Switzerland speak Romanch! They all identity themselves as Swiss! On the other hand, Pakistanis and Indians speak the same language but they are enemies of each other! So, the evil communist regimes attempt to justify the total obliteration of Tibetan identity, language and culture under the banner of “ethnic unity” is nothing more than Adolf Hitler’s claim that the Nazi concentration camps for Jews were for “their protection”! The whole thing of ethnic unity is a facade while the actual reason behind this diabolical machination is the DESTRUCTION OF THE HOLY DHARMA! If Tibetan language is erased and becomes extinct, TIBETAN BUDDHISM WILL DIE A NATURAL DEATH! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO THE TIBETAN PEOPLE AND WE SHOULD BE PREPARED TO DIE FOR IT! Therefore, before it’s too late, TIBETANS MUST MOUNT CONCERTED EFFORT TO PRESSURE THE DEMONIC REGIME TO CHANGE ITS COURSE THROUGH INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE! THIS IMMINENT DANGER TO THE PRECIOUS INHERITANCE OF TIBET MIGHT CHANGE THE COURSE OF OUR STRUGGLE FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE!
