DHARAMSHALA, Aug 16: Revered Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama visited the Dalai Lama Library and Learning Center in Ithaca, New York, where he will take part in a consecration ceremony on Friday (India time). This event marks his first public appearance since undergoing knee surgery. Hundreds of Tibetans welcomed the octogenarian leader at the Buddhist center.

The Dalai Lama will attend two long-life prayer ceremonies before returning to India following his recent knee surgery in the United States. The first ceremony will be held in New York on 22 August 2024. This event will mark the conclusion of his stay in the United States, where he underwent knee replacement surgery and recovery.

After that, the spiritual leader of Tibet will travel to Switzerland where he is scheduled to attend a long-life prayer offering in Zurich on August 25. The event is organized by the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. During this event, His Holiness will also give short teachings to the Tibetan Community an then depart for India on August 26.

In the latest medical bulletin on His Holiness’s recovery, Dr David Mayman, who performed the knee replacement surgery on 28 June, provided an update after examining His Holiness’s knee and observing the physical therapy. “His Holiness is recovering well,” stated Dr. Mayman. “He is working diligently with physical therapy and making great progress. This will continue over the next 6 to 12 months to optimize his recovery. His Holiness has made significant improvements to date, and we expect this to continue for a full year after surgery,” he said.

According to the official website of the 89-year-old spiritual leader of Tibet, two long-life prayer ceremonies are scheduled for September. The first will be held on September 6th, as requested by the Monpa Community of Arunachal Pradesh. 1. What is the news on the next or 15th Dalai Lama? Is the current Dalai Lama’s visit to the United States an indication that they are currently conducting a genuine search for the next. Since the USA is a very Buddhist receptive state and where the 11th Panchen Lama was found and discovered – will history hold true that “Where you find the Panchen Lama is where you also find the Dalai Lama” is in fact true.
