DHARAMSHALA, Jan. 30: Beloved Tibetan singer and artist Phurbu T. Namgyal has refuted rumors of his death after rumors of his death went viral on Saturday with many expressing disbelief and sadness for the incident.

With a barrage of social media posts, the Tibetan singer posted on his personal Facebook page, “I am not dead. Please let me sleep.” A member of his family also posted, “My brother PTN is recovering quickly and better than expected.”

The rumors of the incident were strikingly realistic with the well known singer appealing for a kidney donor back in February 2020 where he posted on social media, “As some of you already know that I’ve been receiving treatment for a kidney issue over the past many months. Due to the illness, I spent most of the last year at home, resting and recovering. My doctors at the Mayo hospital suggested finding a matching donor, so I am in the process of finding a matching donor. Some of the doctors I have, had not worked out due to mismatch and other issues. So if you know of an altruistic donor, please do reach out to me. Thank you for the kind notes and concerns. Many Tashi Delek.”

The Tibetan singer is known for his “Om Charitable projects” through which he supports financially needy people. There are many sick and poor Tibetans receiving assistance from his charity.

The Tibetan singer is one of the most known celebrities in the Tibetan diaspora. His works include albums like Jelyong, Sem Kyipo, From My Heart, Nyima Sarpa Sharyong, and Joyful respectively. He has produced more than 30 Tibetan songs; many of them deemed hits in the Tibetan community in exile and inside Tibet.
