Dharamsala, May 14: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has considered giving second round of special introductory Buddhist teachings exclusively for Tibetan youths next month.

A two-day special Buddhist class, organised by the Buddhism Introductory Committee of Dharamsala (BICD), will be held at the Main Tibetan Temple (Tsuglagkhang) on 4th and 5th June.

The teaching, initiated by BICD since last year, is primarily aimed at motivating young Tibetans in exiles into learning Buddhism and to instill a deeper understanding of Tibetan Buddhist culture and its values.

The BICD is a voluntary committee formed in 2006 to help Tibetan youngsters to stay accustomed with Buddha Dharma and Tibetan Buddhist culture by arranging introductory Buddhist classes.

The committee in June last year managed to arrange its first exclusive introductory Buddhist class for Tibetan youths by the Dalai Lama for three days. Over 1500 Tibetan students from 22 different colleges all over India and more than 1600 school students and few students from abroad, completely exceeding the 3000 seating capacity of the venue, attended the Dalai Lama’s teachings.

“We are blessed that His Holiness has once again considered giving teachings for Tibetan youths,” Mr Dawa Tsering, who heads the Committee, told Phayul.com.

The Dalai Lama himself had welcomed the idea of reaching out to young Tibetans in an informal teaching atmosphere.

Individuals interested in attending the teachings can register their names by writing a brief bio-data to introbodism@yahoo.co.in or, can contact: 9418185475 (Mob) or 1892-221028/220776 for further information.

The last date for registration is Friday, May 30, 2008.
