Oslo, September 30: The Norwegian Tibet Committee (NTC) took part in Oslo Marathon to highlight the Team Tibet.

Over 50 Tibetans and Tibet supporters took part in the event wearing T-shirt “Bring Tibet to Beijing 2008 games” and carrying banner and Tibetan flags. Among the participants were representative from the Sami association, which according to NTC have always been supportive to Tibetan course.

It was a colourful, visible, and delightful run for promoting Team Tibet.

The organizer welcomed them and wished them all the best for Olympic campaign.

Oslo Marathon, which is held every year, is the biggest street marathon in Norway. Over 5000 participants from 37 countries took part in this year’s marathon, exceeding its past participants’ record.

The crowd along the marathon route cheered as the Tibet supporters made their visible presence, which proved enough to keep some Chinese in crowd in frowning mood.

The Norwegian Tibet Committee had also put up an information stand.

Following the marathon all the participants were invited to the screening of documentary film “Blood over Nangpa la” based on true account of Chinese border forces indiscriminately firing gun shots at a group of innocent Tibetans making their way to Nepal across Himalayan border. The tragic episode, coincidently videoed by a western mountaineer, on September 30 last year showed Kalsang Namtso, a 17-year-old Tibetan Buddhist nun being instantly left shot dead while another sustained severe injury.

Of the 75 Tibetans, including several children in the group, only 43 managed to reach safely in Dharamsala, the seat of the Dalai Lama led Tibetan Government-in-Exile.

The Norwegian Tibet Committee’s chairwoman Mrs Chungdak Koren appealed the audience for their continued support for Tibet course.
