Tibetan National Football Association lost match against Sikkim Police

GANGTOK, October 5 – The 28th All India Governor’s Gold Cup Football Tournament, 2006 kicked off yesterday at Paljor Stadium in the presence of his Excellency, the Governor of Sikkim, V Rama Rao as the chief guest.

Tibetan National Football Association(TNFA) played their first game against the Sikkim Police on the opening day of the tournament which Sikkim Police won by 4-2.

This year twelve teams from India and aboard will be participating in the tournament. TNFA first played in this tournament in 2003.

Sikkim Football Association President Mr. Tempo Bhutia said that for the first time on an experimental basis, the pre-quarter final matches of the tournament will be played on knock-out basis, the quarter final matches on league basis and the semifinals again on knock out basis.

A prize money of Rs three lakh would be given to the winner and the runner up will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs two lakh.
