High level Chinese delegation arrives in Nepal

A high level delegation of People’s Republic of China led by Vice Foreign Minister Wu Tawei arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday afternoon to assess the situation of the country.

Talking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival, Vice Foreign Minister Tawei said that his visit was aimed at exchanging views between two friendly countries.

Commenting on the role of China in Nepal’s peace process, Tawei said that China will have constructive role in the peace process.

The team is scheduled to discuss ways to assist in the political transformation that took place in the country recently and the peace process initiated by the new government.

They will meet senior government officials and leaders of various political parties.

China described the royal takeover of the February 1, 2005 as internal affairs of the country and continued assistance during the direct rule of the King despite all countries stalling their assistance to the government led by the King Gyanendra.
