Tibet Support Groups Receive the Freedom Marchers in Delhi

New Delhi, March 8 – After covering a distance of 540 Km (approximately) the Tibetan Youth Congress Freedom Marchers that started on Feb 11, 2004 from Dharamsala finally arrived in Delhi at 12 noon today. TSGs National Convener Dr. N.K.Trikha and member of Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch Delhi unit led by President Shri. Amrit Lal Sharma and General Secretary Shri. Behari Lal received the marchers with garlands and showering of flower petals at the gate of SOS Tibetan Youth Hostel, Rohini in Delhi.

At the reception program Shri. Amrit Lal Sharma expressed his great appreciation to all the freedom marchers for their strong determination and sincere devotion towards the cause of Tibet. He further said that relationship between Tibet and India is centuries old and that it is the moral responsibility of Indian people to support the just cause of Tibet.

While praising the patriotism of the freedom marchers, Dr. Trikha said “despite being forced to remain out of one’s own land, that the Tibetan community has been able to not only preserve their identity but also to promote it to such a great extent, is an unique example in this era of westernization and consumerism. As long as there is a spark of desire for the freedom, it is inevitable that day to come when the spark will turn into huge fire”.

TYC Joint-Secretary Ms. Dolma Chophel dwelt in length on the experience they had during their march for last twenty-seven days and said the march has strengthened everyone’s determination to sacrifice time, energy and even life to the country’s cause.

The reception program at SOS Rohini by India Tibet Support Groups was coordinated with the Freedom March organizers and New Delhi based India Tibet Coordination Office.

This Freedom March organized by TYC is led by Ms. Dolma Chophel,Joint-Secretary, Mr. Lobsang Yeshi, Organizational Secretary and Mr. Gathong Jigme, Information Secretary.
