Subject: Flame is a poor symbolic choice

I think the use of a flame or torch was a poor choice for the TPiE. Over 40 Tibetans have self-immolated in Tibet since 2009 to protest the Chinese occupation. By using a flame or torch, some might say the TPiE is encouraging these self-immolations, which the TPiE is clearly not.

Also one of the "asks" by the TPiE is for the UN to help Tibetans achieve their "aspirations." I don't know what the TPiE means by that. This language is vauge & ambiguous. Perhaps the TPiE should have asked is for the UN to help Tibetans secure & protect their rights under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Those rights are clearly enumerated.

I don't think the TPiE thought this campaign through.
