Readers' Comments on "Speculation on Decoding Lodi Gyari's Statement on Lobsang Sangay"
On March 23, 2012, Lodi Gyari, the Special Envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, issued a statement that was carried on the websites of both the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT). Between the lines of this obviously-important message, it is possible to see the continuing evolution of Tibetan democracy, as political power has passed to an elected leadership that, to some extent, is still finding its way....

Lodi Gyari has reluctantly begun to acknowledge the first ‘ELECTED’ Prime Minister of exile Tibetans. Something he never was or could be.

The political term right-wing originates from the French Revolution, when liberal deputies from the Third Estate generally sat to the left of the president's chair, a habit which began in the Estates General of 1789. The nobility, members of the Second Estate, generally sat to the right. Link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-wing_politics

How has say in appointing his holiness dalai lama special envoy is of great concern to tibetan polity. i am too engulfed with some intriguing questions and sub questions
Does envoy of his holiness means just some appointed person to speak on behalf of his holiness alone or six millions tibetans?. if it is the former, i have nothing to say on Gyari nov 11, 2011 circular. but if it is later, then i wonder does he has authority? or does he heads some parallel organisation which is equal to CTA? or Is he succuming to Chinese Government cunninng way of neutralisation of issue of Tibet to the personnel of his holiness the dalai lama?. or is local politics is in play?. i hope not. even more, i hope our precious jewel, hope of six millions Tibetan, His holiness the dalai lama name is not drag into.Even if chinese govt is insisting on speaking only with special envoy of His Holiness The Dalai Lama. does his experience tells us where the talk is heading.... ops? does he has to be one? fact is two decades of talk we are heading no where. in 2008, thousands of our dear brothers and sisters sacrificed their live for our beloved fatherland, even 33 tibetans had self-immolated their precious lifes and still each and every Tibetan life is in mercy of brutal chinese. so good sense should prevail for sake of country instead ego of oneself. i am not saying we dont need talk, of course we need to talk, but not like before, we need presence of third independent party. will chinese relent would be question? To be sure our middle way approch and principal is intact. we ask for genuine autonmy not the independence. onus should be on chinese govt but not always us.i have question on his personal interpretaion of his relieving accountability towards CTA,is it according to our exile charter. or does he play with loopholes in it? if any we need to amend.its time to hear voice of voice less.for eg, Exile chater allows tibetan to hold two passport but what about us Tibetans in Bhutan and Sikkim in 1970,80,90s. we were pained and we are. we all need to be aware of everything Tibetan. so we stand united. there would not self interest in run.

I agree with Kalyang's comment.Lodi Gyari had many chances but never achieved anything. If he goes again it will just be another photo op for him to fool our naive tibetan people that he is doing something. Can Kashang find some new blood who can be more assertive and have the courage to stand ground not feel intimidated when china try to make fool of us? no need for some fancy suit and boot but wear tibetan traditional clothes and one who knows where to be humble and where to be assertive.

I'm not sure what Purondorjee la means by "right wing" -- and I suspect he doesn't either. I guess he is just upset that it makes Lobsang Sangay look like he committed yet another blunder... but the truth is the truth even when it hurts.

It's only people that have a problem with the truth that try to "shoot the messenger."

Anyone who tries to shoot the messenger is simply trying to distract attention from yet another mistake made by the novice Kalon Tripa, Mr. Sangay. Chenrezig help us all.

I find this analysis interesting, pure right wing writing. We should have TPR in middle, well balance political media - trusted by major populace.

HH has devolved full political power to democratically elected PM and its kashag with great conviction. kashag has full right to elect their responsible governing body. Even before Gaden Phodang was dissolved, through Kashag His Holiness special envoy was selected with his consent. in one of the voa talk with gyari. as i remember if not mistaken he said he would be only competent to work under Ganden Phodang.Lodi gari being the special Envoy then should be aware of fact that negotation is for the benefits of six million tibetan but not just the Dalai Lama as chinese govt propagate.it baffles me why he says as a special envoy he would not be accountable to exile govt leave alone his questioning the authority of kashag. He may argue that chinese govt is only willing to talk with envoy of His Holiness but not the Representative of exile government. Fact is,so far we have not negotiate with CCP but low rank united front department.Even if so selection of special envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama should be sole responsibility of present kashang but not the gyari. Negotiation with chinese counter part is just not issue of dalai lama but the six million Tibetans. why he needs to say he will do all he can to support kalon lobsang singay and kashag but he ceases to be accountability to CTA since dissolution of Gaden Podrang. how can he seperate the issue of Kashag and negotation with china. if he can decide why we need CTA, what is mandate of people all about
