Tibetans and supporters in Toronto, Canada participate in a 'Walk of Silence' carrying Tibetans national flag and placards to urge Canadian Member of Parliaments to support multilateral action for Tibet and to bring attention to the inaction by the Canadian governments in regards to the increasingly urgent situation in Tibet. 50 Tibetans have set themselves on fire, since 2009, demanding freedom and the return of the Dalai Lama from exile. The case of Yonten Gyatso was also highlighted during the peaceful protest on August 22. Yonten Gyatso, a Tibetan monk was sentenced to seven years by the Ngaba Intermediate People’s Court on June 18 for his involvement in sharing pictures and information on nun Tenzin Wangmo, who self-immolated on October 17, 2011.
