DHARAMSHALA, July 24: In the update on the recovery of Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dr. Tsetan D Sadutshang and Dr. Tsewang Tamdin, physicians to His Holiness the Dalai Lama announced Wednesday that his recovery and overall health status is “stable and very satisfactory”.

“His Holiness the Dalai Lama is now in the fourth-week post-surgery. The surgical incision has completely healed without any complications. The physiotherapists have said His Holiness is making good progress every day and are very satisfied with the speed of His Holiness’s improvement. His Holiness’s overall health status is stable and very satisfactory,” the statement read.

On July 8, His Holiness departed the Park Hyatt Hotel in New York and moved to a residence in Syracuse, New York, to continue his recovery and undergo follow-up physiotherapy.

During a public event in Canada on July 20, Representative Namgyal Choedup of the North America Office of Tibet announced that the North American Tibetan Association had requested the Gaden Phodrang (Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama) to organise a Long Life prayer ceremony in North America for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Gaden Phodrang has verbally accepted the request, although the time and location of the ceremony are yet to be determined.

According to the official website of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (OHHDL), His Holiness is scheduled to have four public events in Dharamshala this September, including three teachings and one Long Life Prayer offered to him by the Tibetan Women’s Association, Ex-Students of CST Dalhousie, and Lhasa Districts.
