The Concert for Tibet- Give peace a chance held on 2nd March was disrupted several times as a result of bad weather. The rock concert organized on the eve of Losar by the Rock Street Journal with support from Indo-Tibet Coordination Office and Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Center (TPPRC) with some of the biggest rock bands in India was delayed several times and in the end barely made into a complete show.

The Concert scheduled to start at 4 O’clock in the evening couldn’t begin until around 7.30 PM. It was post-poned due to heavy rain and wind. The inclement weather disrupted the power a number of times and discouraged people from stepping out of their houses. Nonetheless, the concert finally took off when the sky cleared for a brief moment in the evening at around 7 O’clock. The short reprieve from the rain was blessing for some of the rock music lovers to attend the show and give support to the singers.

The bands were asked to perform only few selected songs. Akama (Band from Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts) was first to appear with some traditional tunes. They were followed by JJI Exile Brothers from Dharamsala , experiencing a megawatt sound system and effectively taking the crowd with its rendition of a very popular Hindi song. Delhi based Envison came next, played a number of fusion and jugal bandis. By the time Parikrama also from Delhi appeared, the severe weather started beating down again. However the cold weather did not succeed in dampening the enthusiasm of the loyal fans who inspired the singers to continue the show as long as the weather permitted. The concert ended with more rain and wind soaking the spectators completely.
